Can I submit claims for dependent care expenses that exceed the current amount in the account?

Yes, but unlike a Health Care FSA or Limited Expense Health Care FSA, you cannot be reimbursed for a Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA) claim for an amount that is more than available funds in your DCFSA when you submit your claim.

Example: If you contribute $500 each month, you will only be able to get reimbursed $500 per month. If you file a claim that exceeds the amount, FSAFEDS will reimburse you up to the amount in your account at the date of submission, and pend the balance until you make another allotment into your DCFSA.
