Get Ready for Open Season Enrollment

With Open Season starting Monday, November 13, 2023, it's time to begin planning for the 2024 benefit period and your enrollment in the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS). Remember, enrollment in FSAFEDS is voluntary, and you must actively enroll each year; participation does not automatically continue from year to year.

Getting Ready

Take a few moments to review your 2023 healthcare or child/adult daycare expenses. Simply look at your claims history at www.FSAFEDS.com. Then, estimate how much you'll need during the 2024 benefit period. Use our online savings calculators to determine your election.

Less Risk

Remember, the Health Care FSA (HCFSA) and Limited Expense HCFSA (LEX HCFSA) allow you to carry over up to $610 of unused funds into 2024 when you re-enroll and the Dependent Care FSA allows an extra ½ months to spend your balance.

Explore Your Options

It's also a great time to consider all your FSA options and explore thousands of eligible expenses. Notable recent additions to eligible expenses include over-the-counter medicines and drugs (without a prescription), as well as menstrual care items.

Keep in mind, Open Season is also the only time you can make changes to your FSA, unless you've had a qualifying life event (PDF). Understand all the ways to use your FSA and maximize your savings in 2020!

Decide the Best Reimbursement Option

If you're enrolling in a HCFSA, consider which reimbursement option is best suited for you: auto reimbursement or the pick and process option. You'll be asked to choose one during the enrollment process, if your insurance plan participates.
